July 28, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian military has again promised to end insurgency, banditry and other security challenges.
The Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Yusuf, made the pledge on Tuesday during the “Exercise Camp Highland” for Army Cadets of 68 Regular Course.
The workout is being conducted at the Leadership and Training Centre, Shere Hills, near Jos, the Plateau capital.
The General, who explained that outdoor exercise enhances cadets’ character, military competence and leadership skills, said retraining of officers and men would make them better equipped to fight insecurity.
Since 1964, the NDA trains cadets into being officers of the Armed Forces. Yusuf said the current drill was designed to build the confidence of the trainees to face complex situations during operations.
Yusuf submitted: “This is to boost their capacity to deal with the challenges of insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, among others bedevilling this nation.
“It simply means that military will soon end all the security challenges facing Nigeria.”
The NDA chief called on Nigerians to support the military and other security agencies as they strive to protect lives and property.
