APC To Screen Jonathan, Emiefiele, 26 Others On May 24-25

May 23, (THEWILL) – The All Progressives Congress (APC) has fixed a new date for the screening of its presidential aspirants for the 2023 general elections.

The National Organising Secretary of the party, Suleiman Argungu, who announced the new screening date on Monday in Abuja, said that all the 28 presidential aspirants who obtained the party’s presidential forms would be screened on Tuesday, May 24 and Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.

THEWILL had reported that former President Goodluck Jonathan, Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr Chris Ngige, Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele and African Development Bank (AfDB) President Akinwunmi Adesina, had not submitted their forms to the party before the close of submission date on May 13, 2022

Argungu said: “As far as the party is concerned all the 28 aspirants that paid and picked the forms for the nomination as Presidential aspirants, nobody has formally written to us that he has withdrawn his aspiration.

“All the forms of the 28 aspirants will be taken to the screening committee on Tuesday, God’s willing, at Transcop Hilton Hotel.”

Key aspirants that have submitted their forms include Vice President Yemi Osibanjo; APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu; ex-Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi; former Minister of Niger Delta Development, Sen. Godswill Akpabio.

Others are Cross River State Governor, Prof. Ben Ayade; his Ebonyi State counterpart, Gov. Dave Umahi; Ekiti State Governor, Dr. Kayode Fayemi; ex-Minister of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba and former Senate President, Sen. Ken Nnamani.

Also, Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello; his Jigawa State counterpart, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar; ex-Zamfara State governor, Sen. Ahmed Yerima; former Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu; former Imo State governor, Sen. Rochas Okorocha and former Ogun state governor, Sen. Ibikunle Amosu, have all submitted the presidential nomination and expression of interest forms.
