APC Holds Exams For 105 Council Chairmanship Aspirants In Kaduna

BEVERLY HILLS, April 21, (THEWILL) – Ahead of the Kaduna state local government elections, chairmanship aspirants in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have been subjected to written and oral examinations to weed out those with questionable credentials and deficiencies.

The examination and interview, which started on Wednesday, is expected to last until Friday

The 105 APC chairmanship aspirants for the 23 local government areas in the state are expected to undergo the two-part examinations.

The first part included a 30-minutes written feature and the second part, an oral examination of the aspirants by a 17-man panel comprising four professors, several Ph.D. holders and lawyers.

Those who performed well in the examination, THEWILL learnt, will face the party primary elections, while those who do not perform well will be stepped down to enable the party present competent candidates for the election.

The State Publicity Secretary of the party, Tanko Wusono, had disclosed on Friday that about 905 aspirants picked its nomination forms for the forthcoming local government council polls in the state.

“At the close of the sale of nomination forms on April 14, some 105 contestants have picked the forms to seek the party’s platform and stand election for the chairmanship position in the 23 LGs.

“Some 800 others had purchased the nomination forms for councillorship tickets of the party in the 255 wards in the state,” he said.

The APC opened the sale of its nomination forms on April 2, with chairmanship aspirants paying N1.1 million and councillorship aspirants N310,000.

The State Independent Electoral Commission, KAD-SIECOM, has fixed June 5 for the polls.
