President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Chairman of the party, Abdullahi Adamu and other members of the NEC, as well as members of the National Working Committee (NWC), are meeting at the Congress Hall of Transcorp Hotel, Abuja
The President is presiding over the 11th meeting of the NEC.
The NEC is expected to consider options for presidential primaries for the 2023 elections.
The National Working Committee (NWC) of the party, had met on Tuesday, at the party national secretariat in Abuja to consider and approve a timetable for the various primaries for the elections of party flag bearers in the 2023 general election.
A source within the NWC said the committee will present its decision to the NEC for ratification.
THEWILL gathered that the NWC has concluded on the cost for the expression of interest and nomination forms for various offices from the House of Assembly, National Assembly, the Governors and President.
Addressing the NEC, the National Chairman of the party, Adamu said the meeting is the first the NWC is having with the NEC and will begin the process by uniting aggrieved members as well as discussing upcoming elections.
Adamu, who encouraged members to uphold exemplary behaviours, said the party’s intrinsic problem is fueled by ego.
He noted that various egos within the party have widened the gap between former and serving governors.
The National Chairman, who called for an end to any disagreement within the party, asked serving governors to work harmoniously and with mutual respect with their former governors, to resolve many of the inherent challenges, adding that the new watchword should be ‘APC first’.
Adamu promised that the NWC will deliver, particularly with a United front, noting that contrary to predictions of implosions, the party has emerged stronger.
He tasked party members to seek constitutional provisions, which the party has adopted for dispute resolution, rather than the media, while resolving grievances.
