SAN FRANCISCO, December 05, (THEWILL) – The last has not yet been heard of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primaries conducted across the country on Thursday.
In Gombe State, former deputy speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Usman Bayero Nafada, lost to a former Commissioner for Finance in the state, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya.
At the end of the exercise, Yahaya polled 905 votes to beat the two other aspirants, Nafada, who polled 727 votes and Murtala Aliyu with only 22 votes in the exercise conducted under a peaceful atmosphere at the Gombe International Hotel.
Casting of votes by the 1,700 accredited delegates started Thursday afternoon, and lasted till 1:30 am on Friday.
Chairman of the Primary election Committee from the APC national headquarters in Abuja, Mohammed Ahmed, who declared Inuwa Yahaya the winner, said: “We have successfully concluded this exercise and Alhaji Mohammed Inuwa Yahaya scored a total of 905 votes; Usman Bayero Nafada got 727 votes and Murtala Aliyu scored 22 votes.”
According to him, “In view of the total votes scored by Inuwa Yahaya, I hereby declare him winner and the candidate of the APC for the 2015 governorship election in Gombe State.”
