APC Chair Rates Taraba As Backward On 30th Anniversary

August 27, (THEWILL) – Marking Taraba State’s 30th anniversary since its creation in 1992, the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Alhaji Ibrahim El-Sudi has lamented that it has been taken 20 years backwards due to poor governance and misplaced priorities by the current administration.

El-Sudi, who said this in a media interaction with journalists in Jalingo, expressed concern over the performance of the administration, stating it performed woefully below expectation.

He said: “The state has been taken backwards, there is no unity. Instead of uniting the people, it has torn them apart. When it comes to development, I always make reference to Gombe that was created after Taraba in 1996. Today the network of roads in Gombe will convince you that they have visionary leaders.

“Today marks the 30th anniversary of Taraba State, how far have we gone? Since its creation, the military regime came and tried its best. The first and second civilian administrations also did their best. Governor Dan Baba Suntai of blessed memory tried by opening certain roads because before then Taraba was a glorified local government headquarters. They established hospitals, the stadium, airports.”

Making reference to the briefing by the Ministry of Works on Thursday, where the Commissioner, Hon. Irmiya Hammajulde, pointed that the administration constructed approximately 600 kilometres of roads, El Sudi said, “With the ushering in of the new administration, we have not seen much development. If they say PDP has constructed roads and all, we will accept it. But this administration should not take glory for what other administrations have done. It is an administrative fraud to claim glory for achievements of other administrations.”

El-Sudi however maintained that it is never too late to salvage the situation and redeem their image.
