BEVERLY HILLS, March 31, (THEWILL) – The State Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress in Akwa Ibom State has summoned its National Caucus member, Group Capt. Sam Ewang (retd), to appear before it over convening what it called an illegal stakeholders’ meeting.
The committee went ahead to annul the proceedings of the controversial meeting, which included the elevation as state party leader the former Governor and current Minister of the Niger Delta, Chief Godswill Akpabio,
Ewang, a former Military Administrator of Ogun and Rivers states, on Sunday March 28,2021 convened a stakeholders meeting that took far-reaching resolutions, including affirming the Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, as the leader of the party in the state.

Akpabio and some other party stalwarts were in attendance at that meeting held at the Vimpy Event Centre, Udoudoma, Uyo, Akwa Ibom state.
In a communiqué issued and signed by Ewang, the said stakeholders meeting condemned the divisive politics of party leaders who hibernated with the ruling PDP in the night and romanced APC in the day.
In a swift reaction, Wednesday, the State Chairman of APC, Dr. Ita Udosen, declared all the resolutions of the Sam Ewang-led stakeholders meeting null and void and summoned him to appear before the State Working Committee (SWC) of the party.
Udosen said: “I want to let you know that APC in Akwa Ibom is very strong and we are one.
“On the issue of illegal stakeholders’ meeting convened by a two-time Military Administrator of Ogun and Rivers states and a founding member of APC in Akwa Ibom State, Group Capt. Sam Ewang on Sunday, according to our party constitution, the BoT member said he has power to convene a stakeholders’ meeting.
“But based on this, the State Working Committee wants to respectfully disagree with him. After consultations with the Legal Department, we want to respectfully inform him that he did not have such powers and he doesn’t have such powers to do that.
“I have to tell you that at the national level of APC there is no BoT. It has never been appointed, no caucus has been inaugurated and at the state level, we have not inaugurated that. This is because whatever we do we take the offshoot from the national body.
“After due consultations with our critical stakeholders (of which Sam Ewang is part), one wonders what motivated him (Ewang). On Friday evening he requested a stakeholders meeting from the party but the party said: No, let us meet with our leaders first on Saturday then by Easter Monday when all leaders will be in town we can then have a stakeholders meeting. But he (Ewang) insisted and went ahead and summoned a stakeholders meeting. To shock you, the attendance was very anaemic.
