July 06, (THEWILL) – Terror group, Ansaru on Tuesday, threatened to slaughter the remaining abducted passengers of the Kaduna-Abuja train, if the Federal Government fails to honour its demands.

The group had on March 28, detonated Improvised Explosive (IED) in the train and forced it to derail a few minutes into the trip in Kaduna.

At least nine people were confirmed dead, 30 injured and 61 others abducted by the insurgents.

The abductors had three weeks ago released 11 victims after three months in their custody. One of the victims was also reportedly injured after being shot by one of the terrorists.

In a circulated audio on Tuesday, Ansaru threatened to slaughter the hostages.

A Kaduna-based publisher, Tukur Mamu, who confirmed the audio, said the group picked today (Wednesday) to carry out the threat.

Mamu has been an intermediary between the group and the government.

According to Daily Trust, Mamu said, “These people became provoked on Monday, after giving us another opportunity. I was crying and pleading with them on audio that since there is a delay from the government, why can’t they discuss with the family members directly to negotiate the victims’ release. So based on the plea they agreed to negotiate directly with the victims’ families.

“But they said they are giving us till Wednesday, that if there is nothing concrete from those that are interested in negotiation they will start slaughtering some of the victims.”
