BEVERLY HILLS, January 26, (THEWILL) – English Premier League club Everton has been impressive this season and after 17 matches occupies the seventh place in the league table with no less than two matches at hand over teams above them. One of those whose improved performances has contributed to Everton’s good run this season is former Arsenal Nigerian midfielder, Alex Iwobi, until he was sidelined by injury.

On Tuesday, Everton manager Carlo Ancelotti, who is having his first season start in the Liverpool-based club, provided a fitness update on the Super Eagles playmaker ahead of his side’s Wednesday’s EPL clash at Goodison Park against the Foxes of Leicester City.

The 24-year-old Nigerian has endured fitness issues since the start of this calendar year. Because of that, he missed a league tie against West Ham on New Year’s Day and against Sheffield on Wednesday in the Emirates FA Cup recently.

During Tuesday’s press conference before Wednesday’s game, the Italian football tactician revealed that the Everton pair of Lucas Digne and Iwobi have made good recoveries from their injuries and will be available for selection against the Foxes.

But, not everyone was back to the squad from the injury list as Ancelotti remarked in the conference: “We have Digne and Iwobi back, and we have out Delph, Allan, Gbamin and Nkounkou. The others are all good.”

Ancelotti was referring to his charges still recovering – midfielders Fabian Delph, Allan Marques, and Jean-Philippe Gbamin, and defender Niels Nkounkou.

“We don’t have a lot of injuries at this moment because Delph has started to train with us, so practically he is back. We have only Allan, Gbamin and Nkounkou that can recover soon.

“The squad are all in good condition.”

It has been an extremely rewarding season for Iwobi with his move from north London’s Arsenal to Liverpool’s Everton. The player has been named in Everton’s matchday squad nineteen times and tasted action in all the games with one goal and two assists in the league matches.
