August 19, (THEWILL) – The summer transfer window request from Casemiro to leave Real Madrid has been confirmed by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
The 30-year-old and Manchester United have reached a personal agreement over a planned €60 million transfer, but more work needs to be done before the transfer can be finalised. But, before being introduced as a new player for United, Casemiro would need to obtain a work permit and pass a medical check. He has also already missed the deadline for Premier League registration, so he will not play against Liverpool on Monday night.
To make up for the veteran’s departure, Real has added French midfielders Eduardo Camavinga and Aurelien Tchouameni over the past year, and Luka Modric has also agreed to a contract extension.
It indicates that the La Liga powerhouses are in a position to function without the Brazilian international, and coach Ancelotti has now acknowledged that he has formally requested to depart.
Ancelotti said: “I talked to (Casemiro) this morning, He wants to try a new challenge, a new opportunity. I and the club understand it. With what he’s done at this club and the person he is, we have to respect it. There are talks right now. Nothing is official, but he wants to leave.”
