… As APGA Faction Presents Obidigbo as Flagbearer

SAN FRANCISCO, September 02, (THEWILL) – Senator Chris Ngige has emerged the flagbearer of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the Anambra governorship election scheduled for November 16, 2013.

Ngige, at the primary of the party conducted on Monday in 21 local government areas of the state, polled 63, 255 to overwhelmingly defeat Engineer Godwin Ezeemo (9,564 votes).

THEWILL recalls that Ngige had earlier been adopted by the party, but his adoption was reversed after Ezeemo objected and alleged that Ngige and Imo State governor, Chief Rochas Okorocha connived to ensure he was blocked from taking a shot at the governorship slot.

Meanwhile, all is not well with the ruling All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) in the state as the Maxi Okwu faction of the party lived to its promise to present a candidate for the election.

The faction Monday nominated Dr. Chike Obidigbo, as its candidate for the November election.

Obidigbo emerged candidate through acclamation backed by 450 delegates in Awka, the capital of the state.

Recall that the Victor Umeh faction of the party, which enjoys the support of state governor, Mr. Peter Obi, nominated a former executive director at Fidelity Bank Plc, Chief Willie Obiano.

In the same vein, the African Peoples Alliance (APA) Monday announced Chief Udo Udeogaranya as the party’s gubernatorial candidate.

A statement signed by Udeogaranya announced his nomination.
