Amotekun Rescues Abducted Lagos-bound Passengers

September 11, (THEWILL) – Operatives of the Ondo State Security Network codenamed Amotekun, have rescued all twelve Lagos-bound travellers abducted on Wednesday in the State.

State Commander of the outfit, Adetunji Adeleye, who confirmed the development in Akure, the state capital, said the victims were rescued following intense operation by his men.

THEWILL reports that 12 passengers travelling from Abuja to Lagos on a bus were attacked and abducted by gunmen at a failed portion of the road in the Idoani-Ifira area of Akoko South-East Area of Ondo state on Wednesday.

Adeleye said nine (9) of the victims were rescued acting on a distress call by residents.

“Our men responded to the gunshots and a distress call. They got there on time and were able to rescue nine of them. They took them to our office in Isua and released them after giving them necessary attention.

“The vehicle and the driver have also been released to the police. We are now on the trail of the kidnappers to rescue the remaining three victims”, he said.

Confirming the rescue of the remaining three victims, Adeleye disclosed that the victims would be reunited with their family members on Saturday (today).

“I can confirm to you that we have rescued the three remaining victims and they will be reunited with their families today (Saturday)”, he added.

The Divisional Police Officer in Isua-Akoko, Hakeem Sadiq, said, the victims were rescued following an intense rescue operation embarked upon by the corps.
