August 09, (THEWILL) – Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun, has said that he won’t be distracted over an allegation levelled against him by the immediate past governor of the state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, over 2019 election.

Amosun had at the grand finale of the 50th anniversary of the Abeokuta Club, alleged that the election that brought in Abiodun in 2019, was rigged in favour of him and vowed to ensure his removal in next election.

But the governor, while reacting in a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Kunle Somorin, said that Amosun was suffering from self delusion and won’t allow him distract his second term ambition in 2023.

He urged his predecessor to stop playing God, because the state is not his father’s inheritance, noting he would rather focus more on his mandate than continue to feud with him.

Abiodun wondered why a former governor would accuse a sitting governor of rigging him out in 2019, urging the people of the state to ignore him because he was still pained of his candidate’s loss in the election.

He said, “I will not be distracted by any person or persons who have a problem with self delusion. I will not be distracted by any person who does not appreciate that Ogun State is not anybody’s father’s inheritance, we are all stakeholders in these commonwealth called Ogun state.

“I am not going to join issues with anyone that wants to play God; I will leave them to God, God can deal with whoever is challenging His authority and wants to play God. All I can say is that, what we stand for in Ogun State is administration that is committed to providing purposeful leadership and purposeful infrastructural development across the length and breadth of the state.

“How can we that are on the outside take on an incumbent and then be accused of rigging out an incumbent in the same party, anyone can explain their failure whichever way they like, anyone can also begin to pant and threaten that they will do whatever”, he added.

The governor opined that his administration would continue to be against campaign of discord that would disrupt the peace and continued development of the state, stressing that it remained committed to the development of all sectors of the economy.
