June 03, (THEWILL) – Amber Heard’s lawyer, Elaine Bredehort, has revealed that the actress cannot afford to pay the sum of $10 million in damages she owes her ex-husband, Johnny Depp, after a Virginia court ruled on Wednesday that she defamed her ex-husband in 2018, when she wrote about being a victim of domestic abuse.
Asked on the NBC Today show if her client will be able to pay the charges slammed against her, Bredehort stated “Oh no, absolutely not.”
The Lawyer revealed that the actress wants to appeal the verdict and she “has some excellent grounds for it.”
Bredehort also said Heard is not a loved personality by the media or public opinion.
The lawyer compared the UK trial to that of the US trial, adding that Depp was found guilty of a 12 count charge of domestic violence in the UK and not in the US.
