March 04, (THEWILL) – Almeria, the Spanish La Liga 2 team of Super Eagles’ forward Sadiq Umar, has put a princely sum of €60 million euros on the head of the rejuvenated striker with the attention his performances have started to stir.
Since his arrival in 2020, Umar has shown to be a lethal poacher for Almeria. Last season, the Super Eagles forward was on fire, scoring 20 goals and assisting on seven others in 38 games.
Unfortunately, a poor defensive record meant that his efforts were insufficient to earn Almeria a promotion ticket to the the Spanish top flight.
Despite this, the former Roma player has maintained his excellent form this season. In 24 games for the Rojiblancos so far, Umar has 13 goals and nine assists, leading his team to second place in the standings, and just one point behind League leaders Eibar.
Umar’s performances have attracted the attention of Sevilla and Barcelona, who are said to be keeping an eye on the Nigerian sensation in their continued search for clinical finishers.
The Almeria club management is well aware of this, and they intend to extract as much profit as they can possibly make if he ever transfers to a top side. Almeria requested Sevilla to pay €60m euros for Umar, when they made enquiries about the player’s availability.
As there are still three years to go on Umar’s contract, Almeria could choose to hold out for a huge amount. This will be boosted if the player continues to perform creditably and with consistency.
