Alleged Shooting: Students Protest At Osun NSCDC Headquarters

February 15, (THEWILL) – Placards carrying protesters have stormed the Osun command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) office, Oke, Ayepe area, Osogbo.

The protesters, under the aegis of the National Association of Osun State Students (NAOSS), THEWILL gathered, were protesting the alleged violent acts of men of the NSCDC in the state.

The students, led by the president, Comrade Moshood Yusuf led his colleagues to the state command headquarters of the NSCDC over alleged shootings of their personnel in some part of the state capital, while on the convoy of the Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.

He said the students doubt the authenticity of the hooded personnel and urged the command to investigate the authenticity of personnel following the Minister.

Confirming the incident, Spokesperson of the Osun command of the corps, Atanda Olabisi, said the students embarked on a “peaceful protest” to demand peace in the state in the light of the shooting incident in Osogbo on Monday.

Atanda said the students who came to make their grievances known also demanded that the NSCDC be on top of their game and ensure that lives and properties of citizens and residents of the state are kept safe and protected.
