December 07, (THEWILL) – The Governing Council of the Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, on Tuesday suspended the institution’s Registrar, Dr. Mary Ndah, over alleged gross misconduct.
A statement by the institution’s Deputy Registrar, Public Relations, Gloria Udoudum and made available to THEWILL in Uyo. said the registrar’s suspension followed the report of the Committee on the Review of Issuance of Statement of Results/Certificates for supposed graduands of the Defunct Distance Learning Centres of the institution from 2009-2013, where a prima facie case of serious misconduct was established against her.
“It is considered necessary in the public interest that she be prohibited from carrying on her duties and enjoying the salaries thereof forthwith, pending the outcome of the Investigation Committee that has been set up by the Governing Council,” the statement read in part.
According to Udoudom, the decision to suspend the registrar was approved by the polytechnic’s Governing Council during its 10th regular meeting on December 7, 2021.
The statement said the council has approved the appointment of Mr Ini Ebong, who is the next most senior Deputy Registrar of the polytechnic to oversee the duties of the Registrar/Secretary to Council till further notice.
