BEVERLY HILLS, January 19, (THEWILL) – The state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP) in Akwa Ibom, Udo Ekpenyong has died of COVID-19 complications.
Ekpenyong, was the immediate past Commissioner for Local government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the state.
There is yet to be an official report on Ekpenyong’s death from his family, PDP or the government at the time of filing this report.
But a reliable source who is close to the deceased and his family said Mr. Ekpenyong died of COVID-19 in Uyo, on Monday, January 18, 2020.
It was gathered that the late PDP chairman has not been seen in the public for quite a while now raising concerns that he may have been receiving treatment at the isolation centre.
This would be the second high profile death associated with COVID-19 in the last one month in the state after the first indigenous military governor of the state, Air Commodore Idongesit Nkanga died on Christmas eve from COVID-19 complications.
