Akpabio Applauds Buhari For New Federal University Sited In South-South

June 23, (THEWILL)- Minister of the Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, Senator Godswill Akpabio, has expressed appreciation to the President Muhammadu Buhari, for approving the establishment of the Federal University of Science and Technology for the South South region of the country.

Buhari had, on Monday June 20th, approved a take-off grant of N18 billion for the establishment of new universities of technology and health sciences in some states of the Federation.

The new universities of technology as announced will be located in Jigawa and Akwa Ibom states, while the universities of health sciences will be established in Azare, Bauchi State and Ila Orangun, Osun State.

Akpabio also thanked the President for reaffirming his commitment to making education key in his development agenda for the youth, through the establishment of technology-based tertiary institutions of learning, pledging the continuous peace and support of the region to his administration.

In a release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Hon. Minister, Mr. Jackson Udom, the former Senate Minority Leader said, “Let me, on behalf of the people of the South South region, thank President Buhari, for approving the establishment of the University of Science and Technology in the region and to be sited in Akwa Ibom State.”

Akpabio noted that the two new universities of Science and Technology were established to compliment others already sited in other regions of the country.
