BEVERLY HILLS, October 13, (THEWILL) – Aisha Buhari, the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari, is back to Abuja, Nigeria from the UK after an unusual lengthy absence from the seat of power.

Aisha had been away from the country for over two months. She had departed Nigeria in August to join Muslims in Saudi Arabia to perform hajj, from where she travelled to the UK.

The president’s wife announced that she is returning to the country via her Twitter handle as she posted a picture of her and Modupe Oguntade, wife of the Nigerian Ambassador to the UK, whom she said was seeing her off.

She wrote: “Wife of the Nigerian Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mrs Modupe Oguntade seeing me off. Thank you so much, madam.”

Her long absence in the country fuelled speculations that she deliberately left the Presidential Villa and abandoned her marriage to president Buhari following her disdain with members of the president’s inner circle popularly referred to as ‘The cabal’.

Mrs Buhari’s spokesman, Suleiman Haruna said she arrived at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 4.30am via a British Airways flight.

Speaking to reporters on arrival, Mrs. Buhari said she was happy to be home after a well-deserved rest. She confirmed that she was fully rejuvenated to continue the work of improving the health and well-being of women, children and other vulnerable Nigerians.

She used the opportunity to thank her husband, family and well-wishers for their support and encouragement, her spokesman’s statement said.

On hand to receive her were wives of present and former and governors and many associates, the statement added.
