May 20, (THEWILL) – Senate president and All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential hopeful, Senator Ahmed Lawan, has pledged to prioritise education in the country if elected president.
Lawan made the pledge in Calabar while paying a consultative visit to the delegates of the APC in Cross River State.
He stressed that education will be one of the policy thrust of his administration because with education given to youths, most crimes and attrocities happening in the country would be a thing of the past.
He pleaded with the delegates to entrust him with their votes during the presidential primaries given his wealth of experience.
He told the delegates that the wealth of experience gained in the senate since 1999, when he was voted into the national assembly by his constituents would be used to lead the country to greatness.
The presidential hopeful stated that the time has come when the country’s focus has to be shifted to knowledge based education, just as it is done in countries like Singapore and other advanced nations of the world.
The senate President urged those supporting the PDP to desist forth with and remember what the PDP did to this country.
He said the present administration has done well by completing the second Niger Bridge when compared to previous administrations, which did ground breaking two times and subsequently abandoned the project.
