SAN FRANCISCO, October 06, (THEWILL) – The Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Sunday suspended the operations of Dana Air.

The suspension was announced on Sunday night (local time) in a two-paragraph text message sent to THEWILL on behalf of the NCAA by the Coordinating General Manager for the aviation parastatals, Mr. Yakubu Dati.

The NCAA said it shut Dana’s operations to enable it conduct an operational audit of the embattled carrier.

The NCAA said it would issue a detailed release on the subject later.

Update:

This is the second suspension for Dana in less than two years following the crash of Dana flight 992 near Lagos killing over 150 passengers and crew on Sunday, June 03, 2012. The airline was only allowed to resume operations not too long ago.

As at the time of filing this update, the NCAA had not sent further information on the suspension of Dana’s operations.

Only on Friday, the operating licence of Associated Airlines was suspended following the crash of one of its planes a few minutes after takeoff on Thursday in Lagos. At least 13 passengers died in the crash.
