October 25, (THEWILL) – Amaju Pinnick, the president of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), has confirmed that Leicester City midfielder Ademola Lookman will play for the Super Eagles.
Lookman was born in England and has previously played for the Three Lions, winning the U-20 FIFA World Cup in 2017.
However, through his parents, the 24-year-old is eligible to represent Nigeria. The Leicester City forward is on loan from RB Leipzig and, according to Pinnick, has chosen to represent the three-time African champions.
Pinnick added the NFF has already begun the paperwork process, and the switch will be completed soon to make the Leipzig footballer ready to compete in the green and white of the Super Eagles.
The NFF president revealed this in an interview on ESPN. He said, “Ademola Lookman is excited about fighting for a shirt in the Super Eagles. He loves Nigeria. By his grace, we shall conclude the switch very soon.”
However, it is unclear whether the switch will be completed in time for next year’s Africa Cup of Nations.
