61 Abducted Worshipers, 9 Others Regain Freedom

December 04, (THEWILL) – The chairman, Kaduna State chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. John Joseph Hayab has confirmed the release of the remaining 61 abducted worshippers of Emmanuel Baptist Church.

Rev Hayab told newsmen in a statement on Friday that nine other victims were also released.

While commending the efforts of traditional rulers and stakeholders in ensuring the release of the victims, Hayab charged Christians and Nigerians in general, to pray against insecurity in the country.

Terrorists had on Sunday, the 31st of October 2021, attacked worshippers of Emmanuel Baptist Church,Kakau Daji, in the Chikun Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Two of the abductees were killed on the spot, two others were shot dead later, while one was injured and hospitalised.

The terrorists had demanded a ransom fee of N99million. Though he did not provide details or the amount, Hayab confirmed that a ransom was paid.
