In his words, “I congratulate the party for taking a decision on zoning as this frees up everyone and the party.

“Parties are beginning to be more interested in candidates that will make them win.

“As a party, we need to be very competitive as we prepare for the governorship and field a candidate that has competence, capacity, competitiveness and can better the party”, he said.

He added that he fits this criteria and does not come with any baggage.

He said with the recently signed electoral act, the power of incumbency is diminishing and the margins will be very narrow as seen in recent bye-elections.

He also disclosed that he has the passion for success, wide publicity across the state and also the capacity to run an independent campaign.

The party, he said, needs a safe choice, unity, consideration for everyone and also provides access to everyone.

He promised to unveil a manifesto of great reality for the benefit of Cross River State and consolidate for the good of the people.

In his remarks, Eka Williams, the deputy state chairman of the party said they welcome Senator Onoh wholeheartedly, completely and with all the love they have.

He said the party took a position on zoning because constitutionally everyone has the right to contest.

On behalf of the state executive of the party, he wished the governorship hopeful well in his ambition.
