2015: Forget Northerners’ Votes, Borno Deputy Governor Tells PDP

BEVERLY HILLS, December 09, (THEWILL) – The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has been told to forget the votes of Northerners in the 2015 general elections.

The advice was given, Monday, in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital, by the state Deputy Governor, Alhaji Zannah Umar Mustapha.

The deputy governor maintained that no sane Northerner will vote for the President Goodluck Jonathan – led PDP because of the way the President has so far handled the Boko Haram insurgency in the North.

“Any northerner that voted for PDP is not in his right senses, as PDP government has failed in its responsibility of bringing to an end the lingering Boko Haram crisis in the North-east and the North in general,” Mustapha said at the presentation of the keys of 70 vehicles donated by the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for Borno North senatorial seat, Hon. Abubakar Kyari, to party faithful at the Government House in Maiduguri.

According to Mustapha, “Insha- Allah come 2015, APC will form government at the federal level and win all elective positions on offer in Borno State.”

Maintaining that the only way Nigerians can assist the North in bringing the Boko Haram crisis to an end is to vote President Jonathan out because, according to him, Jonathan has shown that he lacked what it takes to end the five-year-old insurgency.

The deputy governor praised the Kyari for providing the vehicles to the party members, describing him as a trustworthy candidate that can represent the zone well if elected.

In her remarks earlier at the occasion, the APC Women Leader in the state, Hajiya Fati Kakenna, who was also a senatorial aspirant of the party in the zone, said they all decided to step down for Kyari because he is the best candidate for the job.

Hajiya Kakema said they have all resolved to work for the victory of Kyari and the APC in the state.

In his speech, Kyari who is also the Chief of Staff to the state governor, Kashim Shettima, said he decided to donate the 75 vehicles to the party as his widow’s mite to the members of his senatorial zone.

According to him, out of the 75 vehicles which consisted of 22 LX 450 Jeeps which will be distributed to the 10 Local Government Areas of his constituency, including one to each of the council party chairmen, the 10 party`s women leader in the zone will get one CRV each while the remaining vehicles will be distributed to party loyalists across the zone.

Pledging to carry everybody along, while representing the zone at the National Assembly if elected , he assured them of quality representation.

Kyari also expressed gratitude to Governor Shettima, his deputy Zannah Mustapha and all party stakeholders and supporters for their support as he promised not to let down.
