November 03, (THEWILL) – The English Premier League’s Player of the Month selections for October have been dominated by Newcastle as the nominations were revealed on Thursday.
Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier, and Bruno Guimaraes, all of whom played significant roles as Eddie Howe’s team took an astonishing 16 points out of a possible 18, scored 16 goals, and gave up just three goals, are the Magpies’ representatives on the Player of the Month shortlist.
In five of his team’s games in the EPL in October, Almiron scored six goals. Trippier led a fierce defensive effort and contributed two assists, while Bruno was a driving force with two goals and two assists of his own.
They are joined by Erling Haaland of Manchester City, who won in September and had eight goal involvements in just four games, including a hat-trick in the Manchester derby for October, and Kevin De Bruyne, who added three more assists and is now four clear at the top of the league’s assist charts.
Kepa Arrizabalaga of Chelsea was nominated in recognition of his return to form, which included three clean sheets in six games and at least five saves in three games. The last two are Granit Xhaka, who scored twice to aid the Gunners’ stay top and Brighton’s Leandro Trossard, for his hat-trick against Liverpool and other goals against Manchester City and Chelsea.
