December 09, (THEWILL) – The National Examinations Council (NECO) has disclosed that its examinations are now compulsory for all Primary and Secondary Schools in Ebonyi State.
This was contained in a statement issued to newsmen on Thursday in Abuja by the Head, Information and Public Relations Division of NECO, Mr. Azeez Sani.
According to the statement, the Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, approved a request made to that effect by the NECO registrar, Professor Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi, during a courtesy visit to the governor in Abakaliki on Thursday.
The mandatory examinations for candidates in the state are the National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE), and the Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE).
The statement quoted Governor Umahi as commending the examination body for playing an important role in the educational development of the country while assuring the council that the Ebonyi state government will continue to support NECO to enable her to deliver on its mandate.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dantani Ibrahim Wushishi commended the state government for its positive disposition to the Council.
Prof Wushishi commended the state for registering the highest number of candidates in the 2021 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in the country.
He explained that NECO deserves the support of all stakeholders.
