January 29, (THEWILL) – Brighton and Hove Albion are holding out hope that they can keep Ecuadorian midfielder Moises Caicedo, despite his public plea to leave the club this transfer window.

THEWILL recalls that Caicedo took to social media to confirm his desire to leave following reports of a rejected £60 million bid from Arsenal. The 21-year-old was told to stay away from training until after the transfer deadline on Tuesday.

Brighton manager Roberto De Zerbi, however, stated that the club is not giving up on keeping Caicedo for the rest of the season. In an interview ahead of their FA Cup tie against Liverpool, De Zerbi said: “Moises is a good guy, we will see tomorrow and the next days what happens. We hope he stays with us until the end of the season. In life, you can make mistakes. For everyone, there are many solutions. We will see the best solution for him and for us.”

Caicedo’s social media post included a heartfelt message thanking Brighton for the opportunity to play in England and acknowledging the fans who have taken him into their hearts. The Ecuador international also expressed his dream to become the most decorated player in Ecuador’s history and why he wants to take this opportunity.
