October 29, (THEWILL) – PSG came from behind twice to defeat Troyes 4-3 and move five points clear atop Liga 1 in a game where Kylian Mbappe scored a penalty while Lionel Messi added a sensational goal and provided an assist for Neymar.
Mama Balde slammed the visitors in front from close range so that PSG found themselves behind with just 134 seconds of play which is the earliest they have conceded down at home in the league since September 2018.
After 24 minutes, Neymar assisted Carlos Soler to equalise, but Balde quickly restored Troyes’ lead in the second half, leaving the Ligue 1 defending champions in need of some motivation. As has been his forte throughout his professional career, Messi provided that motivation.
The forward unleashed a spectacular strike from 30 yards out before setting up Neymar. Then, a penalty awarded to the hosts allowed Mbappe to provide PSG the breathing room they needed after Ante Palaversa’s late consolation goal.
The victory consolidates PSG’s Ligue 1 lead ahead of Wednesday’s trip to Juventus for their final UEFA Champions League group stage match. After enduring their fifth straight loss, Troyes will play against Auxerre on Friday, in search of a win to break that negative streak.
