December 22, (THEWILL) – There is a lot of speculation around the contract talks to keep Lionel Messi in Ligue 1 in the French press with Le Parisien going as far as confirming that the Argentine icon has agreed terms for extension with Paris Saint-Germain.
Following Argentina’s World Cup victory, Messi is presently on vacation in his own country. As THEWILL reported, the seven-time Ballon d’Or winner delayed contract negotiations until after the Qatar tournament and this has made the issue of where his future lies is a hot subject.
At the end of this season, Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain will expire, and his former team Barcelona has frequently been mentioned as having deep interests in bringing him back to Catalonia.
This is why the story by Le Parisien that Messi and PSG have reached an agreement on a one-year contract extension is generating buzz. The claim is that the 35-year-old and PSG have signed a deal in principle, which is expected to be finalised once the Argentine returns to France.
