January 07, (THEWILL) – Manchester United are reportedly in talks with Burnley over the possibility of signing Wout Weghorst on loan.
The Red Devils are seeking attacking reinforcements following the departure of Cristiano Ronaldo and have reportedly identified Weghorst, who is currently on loan with Turkish club Besiktas, as a potential target.
Weghorst – a compatriot of the United boss, who scored twice for the Netherlands against Argentina in a dramatic World Cup quarter-final – scored for Besiktas in the Istanbul club’s victory over Kasimpasa in the Super Lig on Saturday.
While Burnley have indicated that they would be willing to send the 30-year-old Dutch striker to Old Trafford, the final decision will depend on Besiktas, who have the option to sign Weghorst permanently. United have expressed their interest in Weghorst to Besiktas, but formal talks have not yet taken place.
United manager Erik ten Hag is also considering Vincent Aboubakar and Memphis Depay as potential targets.
