October 4, (THEWILL) – Leicester’s first-half blitz, propelled by James Maddison, saw them defeat Nottingham Forest 4-0 to secure their first English Premier League victory of the season and relieve pressure on manager Brendan Rodgers.
The Foxes and Forest were both dreadfully out of form going into Monday night’s game but it was the hosts who seized firm control in the first half as Maddison and Harvey Barnes both struck from range in the space of three minutes.
Before the break, Leicester led 3-0 thanks to a superb free kick from Maddison, and Steve Cooper’s visiting side wasted their greatest opportunity when Forest’s Nigerian forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, hit the post with the score still 0-0.
Leicester substitute, Patson Daka, added some gloss to the scoreline in the second half with a lovely back-heel from Maddison’s cross. Rodgers will feel a little less pressure after the win, but they only moved up to 19th place, three points and one goal difference from Forest at the bottom of the League.
Up next for the Foxes is a trip to the Vitality Stadium to play Bournemouth on Saturday, while Forest will be looking at helping Cooper keep his job with another Monday night away fixture against Aston Villa.
