November 10, (THEWILL) – Romelu Lukaku, a forward for Inter Milan, has been cleared for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and has been selected to Roberto Martinez’s Belgium team.

Lukaku has only played four times in Serie A this season due to injury, something he has been dealing with ever since coming to Inter on loan from Chelsea. However, his inclusion will greatly benefit Martinez and the club as a whole.

It is not the same for Divock Origi, who has had trouble getting playing time since moving to AC Milan this season, as Martinez had no place in the team for the 27-year-old. Meanwhile, Alexis Saelemaekers is on the stand-by list, but his teammate Charles De Ketelaere made the squad.

Toby Alderweireld and Jan Vertonghen, a pair of experienced centre backs who returned to the Belgian Pro League this summer, are also included.
The former has declared that this will be his final World Cup.

Along with Dries Mertens, Youri Tielemans, and Axel Witsel, this list also includes Eden Hazard, Kevin De Bruyne, and Thibaut Courtois. Lois Openda and Anderlecht’s 19-year-old center-back Zeno Debast were surprise additions by Martinez. Jeremy Doku, a dynamic winger for Stade Rennais, is also included in the group.
