September 03, (THEWILL) – Rafael Leao celebrated his 100th Serie A appearance in grand fashion, by scoring two goals in the San Siro derby to help Milan defeat Inter 3-2.
The Portuguese winger, who stayed at Milan despite recent interest from Chelsea, proved to be the class act on display and contributed an assist in the process to help Olivier Giroud get on the scoresheet.
Leao’s efforts helped Milan defeat their city rivals, with whom they share the illustrious stadium, for the second time in a row in a league clash. Since winning their first two league derbies under Massimiliano Allegri in the 2010/2011 season, Milan had not been able to recreate this feat.
Milan forward Olivier Giroud, added a goal to celebrate Milan, as they won the Derby della Madonnina. Goals from Marcelo Brozovic and Edin Dzeko for Inter made it slightly competitive, but it was not enough to split the points.
