January 25, (THEWILL) – It was a night to forget for Milan as they suffered a deafening 4-0 loss away to Lazio at Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday night.

The Rossoneri’s hopes of defending the Serie A title took a massive dent after a superb performance by Sergej Milinkovic-Savic helped the Biancocelesti to a breathtaking victory. The Serbian midfielder gave the hosts the lead inside just five minutes of play with a composed finish inside the box.

A glimpse of a comeback in the second half would swiftly be put to bed as Lazio continued to control play and stepped it up a gear with around ten minutes to go of the first half, once again working the ball well down the left flank.

Soon after, the home side doubled their lead. They got in behind the Milan defence down the right-hand side and Mattia Zaccagni finished it off with the simplest of finishes on the rebound. Visitors Milan started the second half brightly as they sought a way back, but they struggled to create any real chances and goals from Luis Alberto and Filippe Anderson ended the onslaught.

Milan will look to put the disappointment of this loss quickly behind them and focus on getting back to winning ways when they host Sassuolo on Sunday, while Lazio take on Fiorentina on the same day.
