January 29, (THEWILL) – Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that Liverpool will not be making any late transfers during the January transfer window.

The Reds have had a difficult month, losing to Manchester City and Brighton and Hove Albion, and are now 21 points behind leaders Arsenal in the English Premier League. With the club’s only hope of securing silverware this season being a run in the UEFA Champions League, Klopp is focused on keeping his players motivated for the rest of the season.

Additionally, Klopp is also operating under the shadow of the potential takeover of the club after Fenway Sports Group invited investment offers. Despite this, Klopp was given permission to sign Cody Gakpo in January, but no other players will join Liverpool during this transfer window.

When asked about the prospect of any late transfers, Klopp stated: “No, nothing will happen in this transfer window.”

After Liverpool’s 2-1 defeat to Brighton in the FA Cup, Klopp expressed his disappointment in the failure to deal with set-pieces that led to the Seagulls’ goals. He also praised Brighton’s Kaoru Mitoma for his stunning winning goal and expressed frustration with the lack of support for his right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.
