November 03, (THEWILL) – At a ceremony on Wednesday, Jurgen Klopp was awarded the Freedom of the City of Liverpool, in recognition of his accomplishments at Anfield since he was hired as manager in 2015.
Under his leadership, Liverpool have won seven titles, including the English Premier League trophy and the UEFA Champions League title in 2019.
Following his nomination in July, Klopp was presented with the highest civic honour of the city during a ceremony at the Town Hall, with members of his coaching staff, Kenny Dalglish, the mayor of the city, and other Liverpool luminaries present.
Despite having a subpar start to the season, Klopp’s team has advanced to the UCL knockout rounds. Yet, things have not been similar in the EPL, where they are already 15 points behind leaders Arsenal.
Prior to the World Cup, the Reds will play three more times, against Tottenham and Southampton in the Premier League and Derby County in the third round of the EFL Cup, respectively.
