Kano Govt Sets Up Standing Committee On Emergency Situation Centre

SAN FRANCISCO, August 03, (THEWILL) – The Kano state government has set up standing committee on Emergency situation room and operation centre for sweep and coordinated action by stakeholders during emergency situation.

The committee was inaugurated by the Deputy Governor of the state, Prof. Hafiz Abubakar, on behalf of Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.

He said the committee was mandated to work out modalities for the establishment of the situation room and operation centre on emergency and its modus operandi.

Abubakar, who is the chairman of the committee, further said it is expected to evolve techniques for the centre to minimize human error and improve compliance with life-saving procedures in handling emergency situation.

He said the centre will serve as monitoring, coordination, operations and information point during emergency.

The committee also is to adopt mechanisms for the situation room and operation centre to serve as a central location for an emergency response.

The Deputy Governor said the committee is to explore and fast-track timely implementation of corrective action as well as ability to respond and adopt to sudden changes.

According to a statement issued by the Director Press in the Deputy Governor’s Office, Usman Bello, the committee has heads of security agencies in the state as members.

Other members are Commissioners of Information, Health, Local Government and Commerce, Director Fire Service, Executive Secretary State Emergency Relief and Rehabilitation Agency, representatives of National Emergency Management Agency and Rotary Club.
