January 08, (THEWILL) – Everton’s Alex Iwobi is set to miss “a few weeks” with a bruised and swollen ankle, but will not be out for as long as initially feared.

The injury occurred in the opening minutes of the second half of the Toffees’ 3-1 loss to Manchester United in an FA Cup fixture on Friday, when Iwobi was caught on the ankle by Manchester United’s Tyrell Malacia.

Iwobi took to social media to provide an update on his injury, writing “Appreciate The Love, Back Soon,” and received messages of support from fellow players, including Bukayo Saka, Ainsley Maitland-Niles, and Tafari Moore.

International teammates of the 26-year-old in the Super Eagles, including William Troost-Ekong, Wilfred Ndidi, and Frank Onyeka also sent their well wishes.
