Iwobi, De Bruyne, Rashford, Others Shortlisted For September EPL Player Of The Month

September 22, (THEWILL) – The shortlist for the English Premier League Player of the Month award for September has been released and it includes Nigerian midfielder, Alex Iwobi, Marcus Rashford of Manchester United and midfielder, Kevin De Bruyne of Manchester City.

Everton’s Iwobi, who has started to prosper for the Toffees in a deeper position, is also included on the short list of six players. He was a key contributor as Frank Lampard’s team kept Liverpool to a draw in the Merseyside derby, and he also provided the only assist in Everton’s long-overdue season-opening victory over West Ham.

Even though Erling Haaland, the August winner, scored two more goals in two games, he is not included. Instead, it is his teammate, De Bruyne, who got the nod this time. The Belgian made a significant contribution to City in September, helping the team to three of their four goals during their victories over Wolves and draw with Aston Villa.

Rashford, meanwhile, seems to have fully recovered after a dismal 2021/2022 season and a dreadful start to this one. He contributed to United’s lone goal in a victory over Leicester at the beginning of the month and scored twice as United ended Arsenal’s winning run with a 3-1 win.

The remaining candidates for this month’s prize are Tottenham midfielder, Pierre Emile Hojbjerg, youngster, Jacob Ramsey of Aston Villa, and Phillip Billing of Bournemouth.
