December 07, (THEWILL) – The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Plateau State, Chris Hassan, has said “It is very unfortunate that Simon Lalong is the Governor of Plateau State.”

Speaking during a World Press Conference, ahead of Tuesday’s PDP Presidential and Gubernatorial campaign rally in Jos, Hassan lamented, “Our people are being slaughtered and killed in thousands, particularly women and children held up at Internally Displaced Person camps, while our Governor is absent from his post.

“We are dealing with a leader, who, instead of being prepared to die for his people, is ready to die for an individual”, because, according to him, “I will die for Buhari because he is my helper”, equating God with an individual.

Hassan also noted that “the truth is that our people are wiser than they were in 2015 and 2019, and would make informed decisions as they go out to cast their votes.”

The Plateau State PDP Chairman also accused Governor Lalong of administrative malpractices including a dubious recruitment scheme. “There is at this moment a rush to recruit only relations into the State civil service without following due process.

“This is in a desperate attempt to get the attention of some unsuspecting Plateau people.”

Accordingly, Hassan has challenged Lalong to publish the names of those so far employed for the public to examine and scrutinise the appointments, in terms of even spread across the State.

Hassan, who used the occasion to once again apologise to the people of Plateau, over the actions or the inactions of the PDP thus far, also regretted the “Pains being experienced by the people”, noting that it remains one of the greatest challenges of the PDP as he said, “I wish to assure you – the good people of Plateau State – that the personality, exposure, and experience of our Gubernatorial candidate, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, would be brought to bear in the quest for peace, security, and development of our dear state.”

Hassan also called on Plateau citizens to remain “Steadfast and committed in their continuous support for the success of the party as victory is near.”
