December 20, (THEWILL) – The major story of the second round at the 2021 PNC Championship was the stunning performance of Tiger and Charlie Woods on Sunday.

After shooting a 62 in the first round, the father-son pair shot a 57 on Sunday. They finished the competition two strokes behind the leaders, John Daly and John Daly II (-27), with a 36-hole score of 25-under par.

The highlight was Tiger and Charlie shooting a tournament-record 11 birdies in a row from holes 7 through 17 and one eagle in the second round to finish 15 under par.

The Woods arrived on the course wearing the typical Sunday red even before they teed off. Tiger was critical of his performance after the first round and gave an honest evaluation of his physical condition:

“It’s frustrating when I don’t hit the ball as far as I know that I can and the shots that I see don’t come off the way I want,” Woods told reporters. “By the old numbers, I don’t have endurance. I haven’t played. This is, what, my fourth, [fifth] round of the entire year. I don’t have any golf endurance.”

Tiger and Charlie had a fantastic start on Sunday. They had a four-under-par first three holes, including an eagle on No. 3 that put them in sole command of the lead. Their momentum would be briefly halted as they settled for par on the next three holes.

On number 7, the Woods duo got back on track with a birdie that was inches away from being an eagle. While on number 8, Charlie showed off his putting prowess by sinking another birdie for the team, bringing their total score to 16-under.

Throughout the tournament, Charlie’s short game was on target. In the first round, he made a long birdie putt on No. 4, proving that the apple does not fall far from the tree on the golf field.

The push continued on the back nine, with the highlight being their 11th straight birdie on the par-three number 17, which momentarily put them in a tie for the lead.

With a magnificent tee shot that landed just feet from the hole, Charlie set up the birdie. They still needed to work on number 18 since the combination of John Daly and John Daly II were not giving them any leeway.

With a birdie on number 16, the Dalys, who were two holes behind Tiger and Charlie, recovered the lead. After a par on number 18, the Woods duo sat back and awaited the opposition’s response. To earn the victory, John Daly and John Daly II made a birdie.

Tiger could not have wished for a more perfect way to make his competitive golf comeback. Coming out of the first round, he did not seem very confident in himself, but the 45-year-old put in a show that would be remembered for a long time, playing alongside his son.
