Igueben Train Station Abduction: Another Victim Regains Freedom

January 10, (THEWILL) – One of the travellers, abducted by gunmen, who attacked a train station in Edo state on Saturday, has regained freedom.

While the identity of the rescued victim is still not revealed and only identified as a woman, the details of how she was rescued were not disclosed as of press time. The Spokesperson of the Edo Police Command, DSP Chidi Nwabuzor, confirmed her release.

“Yes, a woman has been rescued, making it a total of seven persons that have been rescued so far”, he said.

THEWILL earlier reported 32 travellers waiting to board a train from Igueben to Warri in Delta State, were abducted on Saturday evening when gunmen attacked the Tom Ikimi train station at Igueben, Igueben Local Government Area, Edo State.

Recall that six out of 32 victims had earlier been rescued, according to the Edo State Commissioner for Communication and Orientation, Chris Nehikhare, who briefed journalists on the incident on Monday, in Benin-city.

The abductors have reportedly made a ransom demand of N20 million for the release of each victim.
