October 14, (THEWILL) – National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Iyrochia Ayu, has denied claims by Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, that he (Ayu) collected N1 billion from a presidential aspirant of the party in Lagos State.

Ayu, who stated this on Friday, after the PDP Board of Trustees (BoT) meeting, also denied claims by the Rivers State governor that he collected monies from some governors for a new facility to use as the People’s Democratic Institute (PDI).

Speaking with newsmen while responding to questions about the allegations against him, Ayu, who noted that he deliberately refused to respond to the claims by Governor Wike, said he had to respond now because Wike dragged his family into the matter.

He promised that the statement of the party account will be made available to party members soon.

Ayu also appealed to all aggrieved members of the party to leave his family out of Party affairs, saying. “I felt I should encourage reconciliation. But where it touches on my integrity, which even my own family members are brought into play.

“I appeal to aggrieved people to desist from trying to malign my character or bringing my family into party affairs.

“At no time did I as national chairman collect N1billion from anybody.

“I never collected 1 billion from anybody. And the 100 million that was donated by one of the governors was judiciously used for the purpose that it was given”.
