April 17, (THEWILL) – A few weeks after the unfortunate demise of comic actor, Adekunle Adetokunbo, professionally known as Dejo Tunfulu, it has been revealed that the actor was previously diagnosed with kidney disease, before he was rushed to the hospital.

Following his untimely death, Punch Healthwise discovered that the actor battled chronic kidney disease for several years.

While speaking with the actor’s second son, he revealed that the actor fell ill in the early hours of March 31, and was first rushed to a private hospital before he was referred to Ikorodu General Hospital for treatment.

They tried to feed him, but he couldn’t eat, he couldn’t talk and was already paralysed. He was attended to at the General Hospital and the family was told to go for some tests. Unfortunately, the actor passed on before the test results came out.

At the time he was taken to the general hospital, he had emaciated so much and his Packed Cell Volume, a measurement of the proportion of red blood cells in the body, was less than 20%.

An average PCV of a male is supposed to be between 40-45%, but the actor had less than that. He had a blood transfusion and was given two pints of blood that night.

However, one of his close friends, Remi Shitta-Bey, revealed that he was diagnosed with severe malaria at the hospital. He also stated that the actor was previously diagnosed with chronic kidney disease before he became critically ill. A family friend, who did not want his name mentioned, said he was aware that the late actor nursed chronic kidney disease for months before his death.

“I don’t know if the family is aware, but he once confided in me that he went to get his drugs. I’m not sure if his children are aware, but they should be”, he stated.
