November 16, (THEWILL) – At least 18 persons have been reported killed including 9 members of a family, after gunmen attacked Maikatako Community, in Bokkos Local Government Area (LGA) of Plateau State, on Tuesday night.
A resident of the community, Mahanan Job, told newsmen that 18 dead bodies had been recovered during a search and rescue operation conducted by community members on Wednesday.
Spokesperson of the State Police Command, DSP Alfred Alabo, who confirmed the incident, said men of the command had been deployed to the community to ensure calm.
“Our men are currently going after the assailants; we are on top of the situation, but the details of the attack are still sketchy”, he said.
