Governor Umahi Swears-In Commissioners, HOS, Coordinators

June 13, (THEWILL) – Governor David Nweze Umahi of Ebonyi State, has sworn in five commissioners, head of service, two special assistants and six coordinators of development centres.

THEWILL learned that the appointment came to fill the vacancies created after some government appointees resigned their positions to vie for various positions in the upcoming general election.

Shortly after their swearing in, the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Engineer Chief David Nweze Umahi, charged the government appointees to bring their wealth of experiences to bear on the administration.

“They are joining us to invest their wealth of experiences over the years. We have done extremely very well. We expect Mathias to try to see if we can get the new estate and handover to the next administration. We will also collect revenue from the house to help the next government.

“Nwasum is a very confident person. Celestine is going to drive the water project. The SA on transport, you have a lot to do with the parks. We have parks in some locations and we have central park at the international market. We do not want people in the park anyhow.

“I want him to inject a new life into the solid mineral so that we can secure the lives of our children. Governance is getting more difficult. I will want us to join hands and anchor the ship properly, so that we can handover to the next administration. Until you begin to look at public property of the government like your own, you can never make it in life. Oko, I know is going to bring serious strategy into the government” , Umahi said.

Earlier, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General, Hon. Cletus Opoke, said that their appointment was in line with Section 192(2) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.

“In accordance with Section 192(2) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended, you graciously forwarded to the house of assembly as nominees for commissioners, development centre coordinators, and SAs. The house of assembly acting within their mandate duly screened and confirmed them.

“All the people have held various positions and when they come onboard, they will bring their experiences to bear because they have served in various capacities”, Opoke said.

Those sworn in as commissioners are: Mathias Adum, Celestine Nwali, Beatrice Eze, Christopher Uchaji, Romaus Nwasum, while Mary Rita Okoro, as Head of Service including two special assistants and six development centre coordinators.
