Gov Uzodinma Cancels Eleventh-Hour Imo Productivity Merit Award

September 27, (THEWILL) – Governor Hope Uzodinma, on Monday, cancelled the Imo Productivity Merit Award, organised by the State Government through the Ministry of Labour, Employment & Productivity.

The prospective awards recipients, their friends, family members, well-wishers and associates, who were already seated at the Landmark Events Centre, Owerri, were shocked when the aide to the Commissioner for Labour, made the announcement.

“Governor Hope Uzodinma has postponed the award because he wanted to be present to witness the award ceremony”

According to the Ministry, the prospective award recipients were technocrats, Academicians, Engineers, Artistes, Entrepreneurs, and Artisans who have distinguished themselves in the service of society and humanity.

Efforts to interview the Commissioner for Labour, Employment and Productivity, Prince Ford Ozumba, proved abortive as he was waving out Journalists.

It was revealed that Governor Hope Uzodinma outrightly and intentionally cancelled the award ceremony because of some alleged anomaly by the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Productivity who kept the participants at bay.

“Some names were smuggled in without the Governor’s approval. That is wrong”, he said.
