BEVERLY HILLS, February 10, (THEWILL) – Former Minister of Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has doused claims by the Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Yahaya Bello, that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain had crossed-carpet into the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The former Minister spoke in reaction to a video depicting the Kogi State Governor saying at a rally that FFK, former Media Director of former President Goodluck Jonathan’s presidential campaign, had “seen the light” and had accepted to join the ruling party.

Fani-Kayode, however, said although he had been involved in consultations with APC leaders, he still remained a member of PDP.

“Though we have had meetings across party lines and we are in a season of political consultation, I have not left the PDP,” he tweeted.

In the video that has since gone viral, the Governor, clutching a microphone, told excited APC members at a public gathering that Fani-Kayode “has seen the light and has joined APC.”

He announced: “Our brother and friend, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, has joined our party in good faith. He is joining our party to come and add his own positive energy and make contributions into ensuring APC is a party to beat.”

Bello noted that Fani-Kayode was a foundation member of APC, who left the party due to some misunderstanding, but had now decided to retrace his steps.

“Now he has decided to join our party, he approached me and by the mandate given to me by the party, I must not segregate, I must not discriminate against any individual. Even if he has his different opinion about the party and government before, he has seen the light, the reality and the need to join the All Progressives Congress,” Bello declared.

Speculations that the former Minister might be returning to APC came in the wake of meetings he held this week with various leaders of the party in Abuja.

He had conferred with the Chairman of APC’S Caretaker/Extra-Ordinary Convention Planning Committee, Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, and the Kogi State Governor at a Guest House.

The closed-door meeting, which lasted for about an hour, was brokered by Bello, who is also the Chairman of the party’s Mobilisation and Sensitisation Committee for APC’s ongoing membership registration and revalidation exercise.

Fani-Kayode had, a day before, met with Bello in his Wuse Zone 6 residence in Abuja.

He had also met with the Senator representing Kogi West in the Senate, Smart Adeyemi.
